For years, many of our partners have asked..."how do you do all that you do in Haiti?" The Lord has blessed us with great people to help...
We are going to introduce you to some of our Haitian Staff. |
Nelio, our Haitian Director, is such a blessing from God. He oversees the entire ministry in the country of Haiti. He helps with clearing all of our containers through Customs, transporting them to Fond Parisien, and then, he helps with distributing the food.
We are so thankful for all that Nelio does to help Love A Child. Nelio comes from the village of Bethel (Petit Des Dunes). He was in our Child Sponsorship Program and was able to complete his education. |
|
Sherry taught Nelio English when he was young by writing words in the dust on her truck windows as she worked in the Bethel area where he was born.
Years ago, Nelio, probably only 19 and very skinny, was working under the hood of an old car. As Bobby saw him working there, he turned to Sherry and said, "Sherry, the Lord told me that young boy under the hood of that car will one day oversee the entire Love A Child ministry in Haiti." Great wisdom comes from listening to the Lord.
It takes many helpers to care for God's children in the Love A Child orphanage. Right now, we have sixty children living in our orphanage, but it feels like a hundred! In addition, others are married, some are working for us, and some have moved out of the orphanage...it is a constant "swinging door." We always have new ones coming in... Our staff helps us provide a healthy lifestyle for all our orphans.

Nini and Gilbert have been working for Love A Child since 1991. Julia and Dana are two of the older orphan girls. When they are not studying or in classes, they help out in the kitchen. Ti Fone is one of the newest members in the kitchen and she does a great job.

They work hard making sure all the children eat a healthy diet. We are thankful for the ladies and all they do to glorify God. |

Kitley is our head "laundry lady." She is the one who taught the ladies how to use automatic wash machines and irons! The other ladies report to Kitley. She has been with us since 1991. |

Once the clothes are clean, the children help the ladies put them away.Sylvia teaches each boy the importance of taking care of his clothes.
It is a big job teaching children how to help with chores around the orphanage. |

Everyday after school a staff member works with the children on their homework.
This is a large piece of property and requires many hands to keep it looking its best. We want to take care of what God has given to Love A Child so the men work hard to keep the grounds looking great.
The men above in the orphanage yard (left to right: Delmas, Loujon and Brenny) are part of a larger group called "pikan workers" who work all over Love A Child Village. Pikan is the Creole word for thorn, and Haiti is covered with thorn trees and cacti. Every morning Bobby meets with these workers for a prayer, and to give them direction for the day.

Workers stand in front of Joseph's Carpentry Shop and School.
Joel Estime, former witch doctor and now devout Christian, oversees the Fish Farm.
He takes care of all the Tilapia fish. He keeps the tanks clean and running well, introduces the baby fish into the big tanks and feeds them all daily. |

Reginal is a wonderful young man, married with a child. He was our "first convert" here in Fond Parisien. He is over the "Fond Parisien" project and he reports to Nelio our Director in Haiti. He is often see on the backhoe helping to maintain the land or he might give us a hand changing a flat tire. |
Over the years, our method for conducting a "mobile medical clinic" in the regions beyond has improved. Now, several days before the clinic, we send our Haitian Team out to gather information about the people in the village we are planning to visit. This team lets the village know that help is on the way and the team completes a dossier on each person wishing to receive medical care.

Elise and Daniel are married and both work for Love A Child sharing God's love and helping their brothers and sisters in Haiti, and so do Edeline and Yves. Elise and Edeline spend much of their time preparing for upcoming medical clinics. Daniel and Yves work with us in many areas of the ministry as interpreters. They may help an American nurse in a medical clinic communicate with the village people or they may be in a large crusade translating for a pastor sharing the Gospel.
All of these people work hard everyday to glorify God in the country of Haiti. They all help us keep things running smoothly in the Love A Child Village and in many areas of Haiti. The work is never done and there is always something to do.
We have other staff members including pastors, about 150 teachers and cooks throughout Haiti. The total is about 340. We will continue to add photos and information about them to this page in the future.
