Children Helping Out in the Warehouse...

February 20, 21 and 22, 2012

A Haitian Creole Proverb...

"Anpil men, chay pa lou."

"With many hands a load is not heavy."

Over the years, our programs and all that we do in Haiti have grown much more than we ever imagined.  Fortunately, we have lots of hands to help with the heavy load.  As our ministry has grown, it has become so important to "plan ahead."

Making hygiene kits

Carole, Medical Director of the Jesus Healing Center, is very good at looking ahead.   Recently, Carole had Stephanie, Lomene, Fabian and George helping out in the warehouse.

Carole Stufflebeam

They were all busy putting Hygiene Kits together to use next September, at the beginning of the school year.  These kits are used to teach Haitian families how to take better care of themselves.

After the earthquake, Carole began a series of classes to help Haitian families learn lessons about caring for what they have been given.  One of the goals of the classes is for them see what God has provided, be thankful, and to work hard to take care of the gifts.

We provided a tent for the poor earthquake vicitms, when they were ready to leave the field hospital...

We helped the Haitians realize that these gifts were provided by God.  Yes, even a tent is a gift from God!  The Haitians learned to keep the inside of the tent as clean as possible, as well as keeping the outside area neat and tidy.

These classes are really making a difference.  Now, there is a village of homes that were built for the earthquake victims.

Painted houses

They are working hard to care for their homes by keeping them clean inside and out.

Houses and plants

They are working so hard to keep the entire community clean.  There is little trash in the yard, and when someone sees trash, he or she picks it up and puts it in a trash container.

We are thankful for all our wonderful LAC missionaries working here and helping make the lives of the poor in Haiti better.  These small steps and teachings are working, and they are changing lives.   We thank all our partners for their sacrifices to help the Haitians.  Without you, our work would not be possible.

As we prepare for September and the school year, please consider helping to supply Hygiene Kits.  It doesn't take much, and you might have many of the items in your house.  We need 1,400 Hygiene Kits by September, and with your help I know we can get them to Haiti.

Here is a list of the needed items:

Travel size shampoo and conditioner

Travel size soap

Travel size lotion

Travel size toothpaste

Travel size hand sanitizer

Travel size Kleenex package (about 2" x 3" packages)

Two gallon size zip-lock bags for packing

This would be a great Mission Project for your church or small Bible study group.  Please pray about how you and your friends might provide these desperately needed items in Haiti.  Please mark your package "Hygiene Kits" and send the items to:
