Matthew 9:36
After a two very strong aftershocks on Sunday and Tuesday, Haiti's poor are still in a vulnerable situation.

Imagine living on the streets full of mud and debris from the earthquake, and being nine months pregnant. One man just came to a missionary and begged for a small plastic tarp to cover his wife, nine months pregnant, to keep her out of the rain...because she getting ready to deliver!
The work here in Haiti is not over, even though the TV Media does not show much about Haiti anymore... The results of the earthquake will be with us a long time.
Here is an aerial view of the Love A Child Village taken yesterday from a U.N. Helicopter. Our Village has changed quite a lot in the last six weeks...

We need tents and tarps for the poor. People are begging for tents and tarps everyday... Rainy season is on the way. We fear that many men, women and children will die from sickness and disease, adding to the number of over 230,000 already dead from the earthquake. That number is expected to reach 300,000.
Thank you, everyone, for your help. We have received help, offerings and supplies from so many people we don't even know. It has touched our hearts and the hearts of the Haitian people. They are extremely grateful for your outpouring of love and support. Please do not forget them in these coming months...

P.S. Here is an article from Examiner.com out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Bobby and Sherry Burnette have lived and worked among the Haitian people since 1991, serving God through Love a Child Ministry. As you will see, they truly seek to be God's hands and feet to the people of Haiti.
Sherry Burnette keeps an online journal where she shows in pictures and words the lives of the Haitian people, her love for them shining through in her writing. Readers of her journal have cried and prayed the last few weeks as she has chronicled the massive earthquake that took place in Haiti- the devastation of crumbled homes and buildings, missing and badly injured people, and unspeakable heartbreak.
There have been many dilemmas in this course of time. Immediately after the earthquake the Burnettes, along with their staff and adopted adult children, searched the streets for people who needed urgent medical care, picking up people Sherry has lovingly called 'God's Valuable Cargo' . These precious people were brought to Love a Child's Jesus Healing Center for treatment. They were sewn and bandaged and given antibiotics. Those whose injuries were life threatening were transported to the hospital. Their spiritual needs were not neglected, as they were prayed for and comforted. Later, the Dominican Republic came in and asked permission to set up a medical clinic (bringing in doctors from all over the world) and a refugee camp on the Love a Child property. Prayerfully, Bobby and Sherry said yes.
In her February 18th journal entry, Sherry shares her concern over the many amputees rebuilding their lives. As the ministry website photos show, amputees are everywhere. Fortunately, some prayers have been answered. Sherry tells her readers, "that the Shriners Hospital is going to take care of all the children's prosthetics, age 18 and under, and that the Shriners will continue this care completely, until the child becomes an adult, age 21!" As far as help and hope for the adult amputees.... jobs will be brought to Haiti for them in the way of building prosthetic limbs and helping to construct new homes. This will bring a source of income, stability, and normalcy to their lives.
Through it all, the Love a Child ministry continues to care for the spiritual needs of the Haitian people as they have done for years. The Burnettes have truly loved the native people in word and deed. They have adopted numerous children and live with them in the orphanage that they run. They direct the Jesus Healing Center, caring for the Haitian's medical needs. They operate feeding programs and a child sponsorship program. They run 14 schools where children are fed and educated. They also have a Christian radio station that reaches out and shares the love of God to the islanders. If you feel led to financially help the ministry of Love a Child, you can sponsor a child, send a child a gift pack which includes toiletries, clothing, and a small toy, or you can make a donation online to be used where you wish or where needed most. 91.6% of donations made to Love a Child go directly to program services, with the remaining percentage going to fundraising and administrative costs. They maintain a 4 star rating- the highest available- in financial accountability from Charity Navigator, America's largest evaluator of independent charities. Please remember to keep the Haitians and Love a Child ministry in your prayers.
