A Haitian Creole Proverb... "Le poul bwe dlo, li pa bilye Bondye..."
"When a chicken drinks water, she doesn't forget God..."
(She raises her head, to swallow.)

Each Sunday morning, Sunday night and several times a week, we have service "under the tarps" and "between the trees," here on our Love A Child land...

Our land has been turned into a "Love A Child/Harvard Humanitarian Initiative Recovery Center" for the victims of Haiti's earthquake, January 12th.

|
|
This is Dr. Hilarie Cranmer, from Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, with Bobby.
She is in charge here at the LAC Disaster Relief Center. This is who we meet with every morning at 6:15 AM. We are so thankful for Dr. Hilarie's work. |

...this lady, who had a broken leg and huge metal clamps on it, made her way to the front to "raise her head and sing a song unto the Lord..."
The crowd watches as she makes her way to the front...
|
|
As the Word of God comes forth, everyone watches and listens...

Bobby encourages the people, with the help of Daniel, our wonderful interpreter.
| Daniel lost his wife and baby three years ago. His wife died during childbirth, because there was no electricity in one of the hospitals, and the second hospital could not do a C-section. The Lord has restored his family and given him another wife with two more children and a new baby. God is good God! | ![]() |
Little Mara always sits on the front row of the church service.

She is the little girl who has her leg amputated and has been through five operations. She always manages a smile.
After the church service, I was walking through the Camp, visiting people and I noticed this man, Alfred, sitting by himself on the ground, reading his French Bible. I went to talk to him... He said, "I am reading the Bible to find peace in my heart; the Word of God encourages me." He was in the earthquake too, but was not at home with his family. When the earthquake hit, he ran home to find a pile of cement blocks on top of his wife and four children...
|
Frantically, he began digging through the blocks, with no one to help because everyone else was "digging too." |
|
In the next room were two of their children, also dead.
Alfred finally managed to pull out two of his children, who are here being treated for their injuries. I walked away with tears in my eyes, thinking of another Creole Proverb..."Yon moun pa janm mouri anvan lè l'..." "A person never dies before his time..."
God bless you,
Sherry
P.S. We are in need of many, many musical instruments for all our Churches throughout Haiti. We need strum guitars, accordions, electric guitars, keyboards, drums, P.A. Systems and small generators to power the P.A. Systems and musical instruments. If you would like to donate or buy any of these items, please send an email to shar@lachaiti.org.
